Well thank doG that’s done and over with.  My “Guest” is gone. 

Someone needed to teach that boy some manners.  Obviously his Mama didn’t.  I tried.  Lord knows I tried.  But he just wouldn’t accept that I knew more than he did.  But my Human tells me that all Boys are that way. 

He was a cute little poop.  But I think he knew it and tried to skate by on his good looks.  But my Human tells me all Boys are that way.

So it back to just us Girls.  Yesterday was the first warm day in ages.  Human was out doing “yard work”.  Me?   I was just bakin’ biscuits in the sun.

World Domination can wait a day or two….

You’d think she had some clue as to what I’m up to. She keeps coming up with events and “stuff” that totally disrail my bid for world domination. Take for example:

Don’t be fooled by that “deer in the headlights” look on his face. He’s Evil! Actually he’s a 15 week old male Basenji. but it all amounts to the same thing.

You’d think I could enlist him in my quest. I mean, he’s one of The People. But he’s too busy licking himself, chewing on stuff that belongs to me or hanging off my face. Or totally sucking up to her.

Its a test. I know it is. She says he’s not staying. I’ll believe it when I see him and his little curly butt out the door.

P.S. He’s not *that* bad.

The next step has been taken.  I’ve sucessfully made the jump from the written word to video.  Just one more way to get the message out there.  Its subtle folks.  You have to read between the lines.

Dogs and Squirrels. It doesn’t get much more basic then that. Enemies since the dawn of time. They laugh at me. I know they do. Taunting me from the branches. Some day they will pay.  But in the meantime I bide my time.

And research:

The squirrel’s common name can be traced back to the ancient Greeks, where Aristotle used the word “skiouros,” skia meaning shade, while “oura” means tail. Thus the meaning “he who sits in the shadow of his tail”.   Give me half a chance and I make him “he who sits in my stomach”!

There are over 365 species of squirrel’s or squirrel like mammals through out the world.  “Gaaak!”

Squirrels are the most active in late winter,  when the mating season begins.    The males will chase a females, as well as, chase off other suitors. This ritual of chasing, occurs through the trees at top speed.  Geesh!  Couldn’t they get a room?

A squirrel’s brain is about the size of a walnut.  I could have told them that! 

Squirrels communicate through a series of chirps. The frequency,  and the duration of the notes communicate everything from laughter to alarm.  See I told you they were laughing! 

The gray squirrel has been known to build a nest in many unusual places, in an attic or a crawl space seems to be the most common. Squirrels have also built nests in automobiles, chimney’s, barbecue grills and under porches.  Or Archaeological storerooms.

I tell my Human, just give me 5 minutes alone with that *#$%* critter!

It was brought to my attention that I had not formally introduced myself.  So to remedy that.

My name is Raisin and I just turned two (I don’t think 2 is too young to launch a campaign of world domination, do you?)  I’m a female brindle Basenji.  I have lots of interests.  I go to work with my Human occasionally where I give the impression that I am a “good dog”.  Ha!  Silly Humans.  I do the dog show thing with pretty good success, I have a pretty wide circle of friends I hang with, both canine and human and I like to think I strike fear in the hearts of squirrels everywhere.  Really, what I’m best know for is being a Super Model in the dog world.  But like your regular family dog I mostly enjoy mayhem and chaos.  Especially if it involves paper products.

Not to be confused with Groundhog day.

I know we covered the whole Cabin Fever thing last week.  I was holding out that we’d get better news on Basenji Day, but it was not to be.  Even though I closed my eyes and turned away quickly I still saw my shadow.

So sorry people.  Its official.  This means a Butt Load more of Winter.

My human says she has something called “cabin fever”.  Let me tell you if anyone has cabin fever, *I* have cabin fever.  I’m from Africa man, I don’t do cold.  I don’t have the coat (although my human has bought me an extensive wardrobe).  These days if I get out 4 or 5 times a day to do my “bidness” I’m lucky.  I need some exercise! 

You can only run up and down the stairs so many times.  Maybe I’ll keep the world domination thing on hold and work on convincing my human we need to move south.

Well I’m back.  Still not on top of my game.  While at my breeders I “came in season” again.  For the second time.  For some reason my human is really annoyed about this.  Why she should be pissed off I have no idea.  Her butt isn’t swollen and twitchy… Or maybe it is and she hides it well.

So the whole world domination thing is still on hold.  In the mean time I am dreaming of Spring.

My quest for world domination has been put on hold for the time being.  Just a minor delay really.  My Human is going out of town for a few days.  NYC to be exact.  For the Westminster Dog Show.  So she is taking me to my breeders (or as she calls it Basenji Camp).  There I will rest and dream of victory.

I had hoped I could keep this under wraps a little longer.  But it looks as if the cat… er…dog is out of the bag.  So yeah, I’m bent on world domination.  So what?  I’ve made a pretty good start.  I have this human I live with dancing to my tune.  Sure she still holds the purse strings, but I can usually get her to ante up when I want something.  That’s no problem.  Now if I could just get her to do something about the weather.  I mean what good is world domination when you haven’t peed in a couple of days? 

So I’ll be leaving a note here now and then to keep the Basenji Brotherhood (Informally known as BB) posted.
